IEEE Hack Chicago Challenge 2014
Create a mobile app with the City of Chicago data portal
CHICAGO, IL – The IEEE Chicago Section and IEEE Computer Society eGovernment committee is hosting a contest to create a mobile application with the kickoff event being held on October 1, 2014 from 6-8:30PM at Motorola Mobility in the Merchandise Mart. The goal is to encourage the development of creative applications that will engage and serve Chicagoland’s diverse community utilizing datasets from the City of Chicago data portal. Contestants should provide a mobile or web-based application that is user-friendly, convenient, and enriches the activities of Chicago residents, businesses and visitors. The contest is open to all individuals or teams who will compete for 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes in three contest divisions:
•Youth (ages 13-17)
•Collegiate [18 or over, and enrolled as a university student(s)]
•Professional
Registration is now open at http://tinyurl.com/ieeehcc14. Submissions are due by Oct 15, 2014. Sponsors include: Google, Midwest Real Estate Data, Server Central, Innov8tek, Stratus Concept, Motorola Mobility, Angel Hack, and the Illinois Science & Technology Coalition.
